Maize Days Festival
The Davis Arts Council is proud to announce the first annual
Maize Days Festival on September 11th and 12th located in the beautiful Layton Commons Park. We would like to extend an invitation for you to join us in what we expect will become the premier community arts festival in the area!
The festival will offer a variety of opportunities and activities for everyone in attendance and will draw a large audience from Layton, Davis County, and the surrounding area. The event will feature a farmers market, children’s art yard, arts & crafts booths, food vendors, and entertainment on the Ed Kenley stage. Festivities will begin Friday afternoon and continue Saturday with the McKay-Dee Hospital Foundation
Classic Race 5K, 10K, and 2 mile walk at 8:00 AM.
Maize Days will close with a special concert by
VOICE MALE at the Ed Kenley Amphitheater on Saturday evening at 7:00 PM.

VENDOR INFORMATION
We are looking for quality arts and crafts vendors, farmers’ market producers, and quality food vendors. The two-day 10’ x 10’ booth rentals are $115 for power booths (power booths available for food vendors only) and $95 for non-power booths. Included in the booth rental is Layton City’s required one-day business license fee. Booth space will be given on a first response basis with limited availability of electrical power for the food vendors. The festival will be on Friday, September 11, 2009 from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM.

Set-up may begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 11th and vendors must be open for business by 3:00 PM. The festival opens again at 8:00 AM on Saturday, September 12th. Booth break down cannot begin until 8:00 PM on Saturday.

The two-day 10x10 booth rentals are $115 for power booths (power booths available for food vendors only) and $95 for non-power booths (crafters, artists, farmers, etc.).

The festival will be located in Layton Commons Park, 403 N. Wasatch, Layton, UT 84041.

We strongly suggest that applications & payment be received early so as to guarantee a space. Booths will be assigned randomly, with preference given to earliest payment received. Applications and payment must be received in full by September 10th.

A one-day business operating license and fee is required by Layton City and is included in the Maize Days application and booth fee.

FOOD VENDORS ONLY: The Environmental Health Services Division of the Davis County Health Department requires all vendors selling non-packaged food or drinks to have a Temporary Food Service Establishment permit. The cost of the permit is $20 and must be purchased prior to the start of the event. They also require one person with a Food Handlers Permit to be at your booth at all times. The State of Utah requires all vendors selling product to have a Temporary Sales Tax License. The license is free and the state will have the licenses available for you at the event. If you do not receive a license, you may obtain one by calling the Utah State Tax Commission – Special Events Unit at (801) 297-6303.

The vendor’s area will be on grass. Vendors must provide their own booth structure, tents, tables, chairs, etc.

Vehicles will not be allowed on the grass. Be prepared to haul your products to the grass area with handcarts, etc. Also plan to clean up your booth area and haul out your own trash/ recycling.

Vendors may only sell what items that are listed on the application. The merchandise offered for sale in each booth must be hand-made or hand-finished by the applicant or under the direction and control of the applicant. If the merchandise is not hand-made in this manner, it must have been improved, enhanced, or reworked by the applicant or under the direction and control of the applicant in such a way as to add a homemade touch.

The festival is outdoors and is subject to the weather. Fees will not be refunded in the event of rain, excessive wind, or any other element out of our control.
